"Creation has three layers: the labor, the craft, and the elevation. She who works only her hands is a laborer; she who works with her hands and her head is a craftswoman; she who works with her hands, her head, and her heart is an artist." Sarah Ban Breathnach

May 2010 Happenings
On May 1, 2010 we opened my solo exhibition at the Pearce Museum in Texas. After a short 16 hour drive we arrived in Corsicana which is south of Dallas. We had lots of local publicity and I was interviewed on East Texas Live, which is affiliated with NBC news station.
The Cook Center on Navarro College Campus where the Pearce Western Art Collection and Civil War Museum are located.

I felt very honored to have my artwork hanging with such distinguished Western Artists as Terpening, Molnar, Coleman, Swanson, Snidow, just to name a few. The Pearce Western Art Collection is incredible, a must see for anyone visiting the Dallas area.

Santa Fe Indian Market 2009
Another great year! What fun it was meeting with some of the young model's families, and to catching up on the latest news and creative happenings of fellow artists at market.
Please let me introduce Josie and Shyla, sisters from Canyon De Chelly, Arizona. You can view the painting on my web site. It's titled "Spring Kids" featuring Josie and Shyla with Ella Yazzie's spring lambs.
Their mother Azalea creates one of a kind beaded jewelry. She has put together a treasure necklace for me which she adds to each visit we have. . . yummy.
The Teasyatwho family always stops to visit my booth in the
Eldorado Hotel in downtown Santa Fe during market. On the right is Mom, Dad, Baby Thunder, Skye and Wild, all out on the plaza enjoying the festivities!
This new painting includes Skye and Wild at the San Juan River in New Mexico. What a fun photo shoot! Skye is wearing the dress I bought from Santa Fe Indian Market 2008. The buckskin dress is beaded with purple butterflies by Elena Pate, Choctaw artist from Oklahoma. I have been collecting her beadwork for a few years now. Another exquisite artist to see at market.
This is the first year I have painted Wild. Skye has been my little model since she was an infant, she is turning five this September. What a wonderful extended family! My best to Art and Deena, the Grandparents who I deeply admire. And my love goes to Justin and Alicia, raising such a loving and beautiful family!!!
This is my booth set-up in the Anasazi Ballroom at the Eldorado Hotel. I hope you can visit us next year!
We are already planning a gala event for 2010!
And just adding some shots from around town. . .

Another of my little models, Asianna, was also in attendance. You may remember her from the painting "Blue Bird Princess". Her Grandmother, Karyl Begay-Olson wove the beautiful little rug dress she modeled. The regalia she puts together, woven or sewn, for her family is absolutely gorgeous. Watch for a new painting of Asianna in the rug dress!! By the way, Asianna took first place in her age group! Congratulations to the family!
